The HEL Advocate brake system represents two years of relentless dedication to design, engineering, and testing. Every step of the process has been brought from concept to reality in-house by our small and determined team who have designed, prototyped, CNC machined, hand-assembled and rigorously tested in the lab, on the trail, and in real race environments. The result is a system that proudly encapsulates HEL’s 25 years of motorsport heritage.
Purpose-built to meet the demands of downhill, enduro, and eMTB riding, the Advocate is HEL Mountain Bike’s most capable, robust, highest-performing brake system to date.
For trail and XC bikes, HEL is currently developing the Raiser — an ultra-lightweight, 2-piston brake system specifically designed for riders who demand maximum 2-piston stopping power and a compact footprint, when every gram counts.

Brakeset is delivered without brake fluid. You need to use brake fluid DOT 5.1 and bleed the brakeset.

Back in 1999, HEL Performance – also known as HEL (pronounced hell) began with a simple mission: to set a new benchmark for braking performance. HEL quickly evolved into a globally recognised, race-winning name in high-performance brake and clutch lines throughout the motorsport industry. From day one, there’s always been one clear vision: a refusal to compromise on quality or safety.
As of 2025, HEL is extremely proud to in-house manufacture a wide range of performance braking systems and advanced hydraulic components across three divisions: HEL Motorcycle, HEL Automotive, and now, HEL Mountain Bike. As a Made in Britain approved manufacturer, every HEL product is designed, developed, tested, and hand-assembled entirely in-house at our premises in Exeter, Devon.
